KATIE STEVENS

GRADUATE BEAUTY THERAPIST

I grew up here in the amazing Queenstown and I can't imagine living my life anywhere else just yet.

After finishing high school in 2019, I was unsure of what my career path would be. A gap year in 2020 allowed me to think about my future and what I want to do with my life, and in 2021 I studied beauty therapy at the Southern Institute of Technology in Remarkables Park.

I have always had an interest in beauty therapy and would often practice treatments on my friends and family.
The beauty therapy industry is something that motivates me as there is always something new to learn, which is an important factor for me in choosing my career.

I have a passion for all treatments and I love how everyday is different. In the future I would love to see where my  skills take me and explore the many different ways other countries practice beauty therapy.
Beauty therapy is all about the clients so I want to be doing work which gives my clients more confidence, and help them with any beauty concerns.
I’m really looking forward to creating lasting relationships with clients that trust my work.
When I’m not here at EVE you’ll find me socialising with my friends and family, at the lake soaking up the sun or checking out all the sights around the region. However you won't find me too far from Queenstown as I’m drawn in with all the beautiful landscapes.
I can't wait to see where my future takes me while working here at EVE Beauty.

COURTNIE FLYNN

SENIOR BEAUTY THERAPIST & ASSISTANT MANAGER

Originally from Essex in the UK, I went to beauty college straight from high school and have been working in the industry now for 15 years. Both my Mum and Grandad were both hairdressers, so I guess the love for beauty is in my blood.

Throughout the years I have done training with ESPA, Thalgo, Lash Perfect, Nouveau Lashes, HD Brows, CND, Young Nails, and Lycon, among many more.

I moved to Queenstown in 2018, and plan on planting my roots here, as I got engaged recently and love everything about Queenstown.

When I’m not a work you’ll find me cooking, doing macrame and painting, yoga and making home made body scrubs and butters and lip balms.

They say “find a job you love and you never have to work a day in your life.” I feel very lucky to say this is how I feel working for EVE.

SHAWNA ALLAN

GRADUATE BEAUTY THERAPIST

Hailing from Auckland, before deciding to pursue a career in beauty therapy and moving to Queenstown, I had a gap year in Wanaka where I lived for 4 years.

I had no clue what career path I wanted to choose but was always passionate when it came to doing makeup and other beauty treatments so I decided to make the move to complete my beauty therapy certificate at the Southern Institute of Technology in Queenstown and fell in love with the industry.

I was immediately excited as it is an ever-changing and evolving industry where there is always new things to learn which makes it so enjoyable.

When I'm not at work I'm at the gym or enjoying the day with my friends in the beautiful Queenstown. I can't wait to see what the future holds for me here at EVE Beauty and the years to come!

SEBORAH HANIPALE

SENIOR MAKEUP ARTIST & ASSISTANT MANAGER

Talofa! My name is Seborah (pronounced Sephora with a b). I was born and raised in Wellington, NZ and after 30 years, I finally decided to move out of the coolest little city in the world to the beautiful and scenic Queenstown to work as Makeup Artist at EVE Beauty.

A little bit about me… I’m currently studying towards a Bachelor of Business degree, i’m the middle sister of three, my heritage is Samoan, can play guitar, alright at netball, I’ve jumped out of a plane, off a bridge and floated in a balloon in the sky, go-to karaoke song is Dreams by Fleetwood Mac, celebrity crush - Chris Evans, if I could choose my last meal on earth it would be a woodfired Margherita pizza and fries with a nice cold beer.

From a young age, I was good at drawing and had neat handwriting. It was at intermediate school that I discovered my love for art when I got placed in Art extension class. Our assignment was to choose a famous painting to replicate. Typical me, choosing one of the most challenging pieces, I went for the Monalisa. Although it was unfinished (ran out of school terms), I got to experiment using different art techniques and it was an introduction to ‘painting’ faces, so to speak. Fast forward to entering young adulthood, I used my artistic skills to improve my own makeup routine and became the friend that did everyone's makeup for a night out or a special occasion.

In 2016, I officially started Makeup by Seborah, a freelance mobile Makeup Artistry service in Wellington. Over the past 6 years, I was working a 9-5 corporate job and doing makeup in the weekends.

My favourite part of the process is seeing a client’s reaction after their makeup is done and the confidence they exude from within. After a few years working with clients from all walks of life, sharing sentimental stories and hearing words like “I feel beautiful”, “That was so therapeutic”, “Im a Mum and this is me time”, it feels much more than a job and creating art, its about connection and empowerment.

I look forward to meeting some of you soon!

GENEVIEVE WARBURTON

SALON OWNER

With a background in business, marketing & events, gaining my makeup artistry qualification from The Makeup School in Ponsonby, Auckland back in 2014 was at the time more of a personal achievement rather than a career driven one. I was still living in my home city, Auckland and working in the corporate industry, doing makeup for school balls and weddings on the weekends was a creative outlet that I loved, but at the time couldn't see how I'd ever be able to walk away from corporate life.

All that changed when I decided to move to Queenstown in 2015, within 6 months of living here I'd gone from doing makeup on the weekends to doing makeup for weddings everyday of the week, and so EVE Makeup Artistry was born.

When I first arrived in Queenstown there were two things I noticed about beauty, there was no where to buy makeup and most of the salons & spas were very tourist focused. I've spent the last 3 years focusing on growing my business & team as makeup artists, so opening this salon and now being offer a wider range of treatments, services and products to Queenstown locals is a real dream come true for me. During this time I have also gained my Lash & Brow Technician qualification from Nouveau Lashes.

When I'm not doing makeup, I'm learning about new products & makeup techniques, along with keeping up to date with the latest fashion and beauty trends. When I'm away from my desk during the summer months you'd find me outdoors with my two dogs Yuki & Eva, or out socialising with my friends. During the winter you'll find me on the mountain snowboarding or ski-touring.
